website Review

Good morning,
I just had my website updated by an online company. Can I have suggestions for what I should and shouldn't do to improve it? WiggleDigital

Hi LebogangWiggle,
I used this software on your site to assess it:

It seems you are not using browser caching, which will make the site significantly faster for visitors after they load the content once. For example if a visitor goes to the homepage it will load the CSS, JS, images, fonts, etc. If they visit a second page the browser will use the content it has from the first page to load the second page faster, and it reduces the bandwidth since they don't need the same content sent to them again.

Adding Browser Caching to your Site

I noticed your site is using WordPress, so you can easily install software like W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache,  WP Fastest Cache, or Comet Cache, to configure browser caching automatically.

If your server is running Apache (most likely it is; Apache is the most popular server software) you can add code to your .htaccess file to use browser caching:

<IfModule mod_expires.c>
ExpiresActive On
ExpiresByType image/jpg "access plus 1 year"
ExpiresByType image/jpeg "access plus 1 year"
ExpiresByType image/gif "access plus 1 year"
ExpiresByType image/png "access plus 1 year"
ExpiresByType text/css "access plus 1 month"
ExpiresByType application/pdf "access plus 1 month"
ExpiresByType text/x-javascript "access plus 1 month"
ExpiresByType application/x-shockwave-flash "access plus 1 month"
ExpiresByType image/x-icon "access plus 1 year"
ExpiresDefault "access plus 2 days"
